Max Sturm, LMSW

Max is a licensed Clinical Social Worker, who specializes in the areas of Anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Depression, Life Transitions, and Relationships. He received his Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2019, and has since worked as a Clinical Therapist, and School Social Worker.  Currently, he works most often with clients aged 16 and up. Max is Gottman trained, and works often with couples and individuals who are looking to improve their relationships. He is also Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained, and is equipped to work with clients looking to navigate and process traumatic experiences. He also integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Strengths Based Approach, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), into his work with clients.

In his free time, Max is a frequent traveler, passionate sports fan, and enjoys playing guitar and spending time with his family and friends.

"My passion as a therapist is rooted in helping others recognize and fulfill their potential, while navigating life’s inevitable challenges. I view going to therapy as a chance to be “selfish” in a world where we are often consumed with fulfilling obligations outside of ourselves. Therapy is an opportunity for clients to invest in themselves, take time to process their feelings, and reflect upon events in their lives. My approach as a therapist leans heavily on evidence based practices, and is tailored towards the individual needs of each client. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist is critical for the client to experience the best outcomes. I take that relationship very seriously. Give me a call!"

Julia is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at Wayne State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Grand Valley State University. Throughout her education, Julia developed a strong interest in mental health, human behavior, and the experiences that shape how people understand themselves and the world around them. She chose to pursue a career in social work because of the field’s diverse opportunities and her interest in clinical practice, with the goal of becoming a licensed clinical social worker.

Julia is especially interested in working with teens, young adults, and adults, while remaining open to supporting individuals across different stages of life and with a variety of needs. Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship concerns, life transitions, and personal growth. Julia believes that everyone deserves a supportive and nonjudgmental space where they can openly discuss what they are experiencing. She values building genuine connections with clients and hopes to help them develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the challenges they may be facing.

Outside of work and school, Julia enjoys reading, traveling, playing video games, swimming, and skiing.

Caleb Joslin, MSW Intern

Caleb is pursuing his Master of Social Work at Wayne State University after earning his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan.

Caleb chose to pursue social work because of his belief in the importance of human connection, empathy, and supporting people through life’s challenges. He is passionate about helping individuals recognize their strengths, find meaning in their experiences, and work through barriers that may be impacting their lives. He was also drawn to social work because of the versatility of the field and the many different ways it allows him to support individuals, families, and communities.

Caleb is interested in working with a variety of populations, including young men, veterans, high school and college students, individuals experiencing substance use concerns, and those navigating grief and trauma. His goal is to meet clients where they are in their journey and support them in identifying meaningful ways to improve their well-being and overall quality of life.
